How to buy Bitcoin with a SWIFT bank transfer
A SWIFT transfer is an international bank wire: banks use the SWIFT network to send each other payment instructions. To buy Bitcoin with one on Coinmama, create an account, complete the identity check, place an order and pay by SWIFT bank transfer if it is offered for your country. Crypto is delivered to the wallet address you provide.

What is a SWIFT transfer?
A SWIFT transfer is a bank wire between countries or currencies. SWIFT is the global messaging network that banks use to send each other payment instructions, and it does not hold or move the money itself. The banks move the funds, sometimes through one or more intermediary (correspondent) banks (Swift, as of September 2026).
Banks are identified by a SWIFT code, also called a BIC (Business Identifier Code). It has 8 characters, including a two-letter country code, or 11 when a branch code is added. For bank wires in general, see the glossary entry on wire transfers.
How do you buy Bitcoin with a SWIFT transfer?
You buy Bitcoin with a SWIFT transfer in four steps: create an account, verify your identity, place your order and pay, then receive your Bitcoin. Payment methods depend on your country, so check the supported payment methods and account limits first.

What does it cost to buy Bitcoin with SWIFT?
Coinmama does not add its own fee. All fees are shown before you confirm your order. See how Coinmama fees work for the costs a crypto purchase can include.
Banks can charge too. Your own bank may charge a fee to send an international wire. If the transfer passes through intermediary (correspondent) banks, they or the receiving bank may deduct fees along the way, so the amount that arrives can be less than the amount you sent (U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, as of September 2026). Ask your bank what it charges before you send.
How long does a SWIFT transfer take?
It depends on the banks involved. As of September 2026, Swift says 90% of cross-border payments on its network reach the recipient’s bank in under an hour, but delays often happen after that, before the money is credited to the account. This is not a purchase time: how long a purchase takes varies by payment method. See how long it takes to buy crypto.
What is Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency. No bank or government issues it: a network of computers records every transaction on a shared public ledger called the blockchain, which makes past records very hard to change. Learn more in What is Bitcoin?, or see the Bitcoin price and payment options.
